With the brilliant development of technology, many universities are taking into account online courses taken place of real lectures in person. In my opinion, this trend has darker sides than brighter sides for university students.
On the one hand, the trend of online courses offered by universities can be seen as positive. Since they are able to shorten the time for students who stay far from their school so that travel long distances a day, it would lead them to a better learning environment. As an illustration, students can experience and study their subjects more effectively by reviewing them at their own pace, regardless of place and time. Additionally, online courses might provide students with an improved and wide range of courses, which means that students can productively cultivate more knowledge about their major.
On the other hand, the online courses can have directly negative impacts on the school life. There are some courses included practical training such as physical education could not be replaced with e-learning courses as these subjects place importance on not only a great deal of professional knowledge but also first-hand experiences. Furthermore, as a result of many students taking their courses on the Internet, there would less face-to-face opportunities that help them build up the relationship among their professors and classmates because online learning allows them to study at home as opposed to at school. Accordingly, it might affect negatively their study of environment and relation at school.
In conlcusion, while online courses are easily accessible to study for university students, my brief is that this trend can be seen as a negative development.
