▶ Your Answer :
Art is an
expression of people’s creativity and imagination that plays a pivotal role in
formation of science and technologies. In modern society, however, people tend
to have little attention or opportunities to appreciate art as they believe art
have nothing to do with science that has brought about the convenient lives. As
a consequence, whether or not governmental investment on the art should be
shifted to science even has become a frequent topic of people’s debate. To
change this misconception and provide people with more chance to get access to
the art, effective measures need to be carried out by the government.
Fundamental changes
in education system can significantly change people’s perspectives. Today’s
competition-oriented society focuses on individual’s achievements based on the
examination or competition. Therefore, people in these days tend to focus on
science that shows immediate outcomes rather than arts. When it comes to Korean
education that put significant importance on academic subjects such as mathematics,
science and English, students have little time to study arts in that it not
only has little impacts on their academic results but also is not prioritized
by their teachers. By implementing education system that requires students to
appreciate arts as a part of their curriculum can naturally increase the
awareness of art among the students.
Changing people’s
misunderstanding can make more people appreciate the art. Many people believe
that the art is an abstract or exclusive value that requires professional knowledge
to appreciate or has little influences on their daily lives. However, when
considering that art is not only an important source or scientific development
but also good ways to relieve stresses from their work or study, it is not an
overstatement that art can impact people’s lives as much as science do. By establishing
cultural facilities or implementing public advertisements that encourage people’s
participation in arts can be one of the greatest manifestations. Moreover, due
to its expensive costs and limited information, it is hard for people to have
opportunities to appreciate the arts in their routine. At this point, by
privatizing the facilities or encouraging investment from the private
companies, people can have more chances to enjoy various arts with more
affordable prices.
To sum up,
people’s misconception that art has little influences on their lives make fewer
people to appreciate art. By providing more opportunities to enjoy arts and
helping individuals realize that science comes from imagination based on art,
can greatly change people’s biased viewpoints. In order to do so, governmental
investment as well as educational changes should be carried out.
